Hochheim Markt

The town of Hochheim, which is very close to Wiesbaden, holds an annual market, with booths, food, rides, etc. We ventured over there a few weekends ago to check it out. It is a neat little town, with an 'altstadt' (old town) where the market was held. We took the train over; you walk from the train station up this hill, right through the vineyards and around this huge church to get into the old town area. It was cold, but we had a fun time. The boys managed to scam the lady at the gluhwein stand - or I should say, they CHARMED her. She came out from the stand just to give them a handful of cookies after Chris and I bought some gluhwein. You can see them happily eating them in the last picture...

Rudesheim am Rhein

We also headed over to Rudesheim, right on the Rhein River. It is a neat town; surrounded by vineyards! Their real tourist season is the spring/summer, so we had the town mostly to ourselves. We did eat at a great restaurant, and also enjoyed the view from the monument, high above the river.

Wuerzburg, part 2

Here are some more pics from the Gardens - the kids had a great time, even though it was cold, windy and raining. Oh well - if you aren't going to go anywhere in the rain, you won't go anywhere in Germany.....ha ha.
The church is downtown in Wuerzburg, right on the Marktplatz.

Wuerzburg and Rudesheim

We went out adventuring over the Veterans' Day weekend. It was cold and rainy, but we made it out to explore the Residenz in Wuerzburg. This is a beautiful building; too bad we couldn't take any pics inside....Here are a few from inside (shh, don't tell) and also from the Gardens outside.

Happy Halloweenie, 2006!

The boys loved their costumes this year! It was a lot of fun, although it was cold!! Justin has never gone trick or treating when he wasn't wearing shorts and a t shirt. ha ha. Chris did a great job on the pumpkin again this year! We enjoyed hanging out with our neighbors from the stairwell, and our friend Jason Cosby. We continued our tradition of Halloween is pizza night, so it made for a fun, low-stress evening!

Fall in Hainerberg

We took these pictures last weekend; Fall is a beautiful season here in Germany. The trees are so beautiful, and we live in a neat part of the city of Wiesbaden.

Pumpkins, part zwei

Check out these pictures - yes, all the pumpkins were real! It was really neat to see all the different kinds - many of them were for sale, too. We also enjoyed the fairy tale gardens, too.

Schloss Ludwigsburg, Miss Helen and Henry T, and the Kurbis Austellung

My boss from Ft Rucker, Helen, and her hubby were visiting relatives here in Germany. We met up with them at a beautiful palace/gardens in Ludwigsburg. The Schloss was hosting a pumpkin festival that weekend, it was very interesting! It was a bit cold but a beautiful day! We enjoyed seeing all the pumpkins (didn't know there were grey pumpkins...) and visiting with Helen and Henry T.

DLRP, Odds and Ends

On our last evening at the hotel, we went for a swim in the hotel's nifty indoor pool (complete with a water slide!) We also enjoyed a wonderful buffet dinner, including some of the most amazing desserts we had ever seen! It looked like the food on a cruise! We let the boys stay up a bit late, and we all enjoyed a stroll in the night air, along with some coffee in the bar area. Here are some photos from that day, including one of our hotel - it looked so beautiful with sun shining on the changing leaves!

DP, denouement

We had a great time at DLRP; can't wait to go again! Here are some miscellaneous pics; Saturday and Sunday were beautiful days, about 65 for a high and lots of sun.

DP, part cinq

Of course, with Justin wearing his Buzz costume, we went back for another few rounds at the Buzz Lightyear ride! Lots of fun - and it was priceless when the cast members saluted J as he boarded the ride!

Disneyland Paris, part quatre

The second morning of our stay dawned clear and sunny. We had reservations for breakfast in Fantasyland, which turned out to be very cool! The food was the same as at our hotel (croissants, brotchen, with jam, butter and Nutella; cereal (including chocolate corn flakes! yum); fruit; yogurt; juice; cappuccino, coffee or tea.) The neatest thing was that you get to enter the park one hour before they open - it is like you own the place, very cool! Wish I had taken more photos - it was so neat to see the place so still and empty. Since we were right in the heart of the park, we got onto the rides there, like Dumbo, on their first ride of the day! It was a lot of fun, and the weather was much warmer without the wind.
